In June of 2018 the BIG3, the professional 3-on-3 basketball league that features former NBA players, became the first professional sports league in the U.S. to permit CBD use, according to Josh Peter with USA TODAY.

Studies have shown that CBD has anti-inflammatory effects, alleviates pain, encourages alertness, supplies the body with vital nutrients, and even helps with sore muscles, all of which athletes can certainly benefit from.CBD is one of over 100 cannabinoids found in marijuana and has been medically proven to improve pain, limit muscle tightness and hinder psychotic symptoms like anxiety. In the release, the league said it is allowing “access to CBD for use in pain management and recovery.”
